What would Margaret Thatcher be doing about Europe?

Summary

Robin Renwick addressed the UK relationship with the EU through the hypothetical lens of a modern Thatcher government.

Program

The Lord Renwick of Clifton was a senior foreign policy advisor to Margaret Thatcher during many of the major events during her premiership including the single market negotiations and “getting our money back” from the European Community, the Falklands War, and the release of Nelson Mandela. His book, “A Journey with Margaret Thatcher: Foreign Policy under the Iron Lady,” was published last year, and in this talk to New Direction at the Bloomberg offices in London he addressed the UK relationship with the EU through the hypothetical lens of a modern Thatcher government.

Lady Thatcher was the Founding Patron of New Direction.
