Entrepreneurship: what can we learn from Eastern European countries?

Summary

Attitudes towards entrepreneurs matter

Program

Over the past three years, the share of EU citizens who want to be their own boss has fallen from 45% to 37%, reports European Commission (EC). This year, the EC highlighted the need for more entrepreneurs in order to return the EU to growth and higher levels of employment and
presented an Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan.

Yet, without knowing the mistakes of the past, there is no future. Therefore, it is important not only to know the attitudes, but to understand the underlying reasons of attitudes towards entrepreneurs in multicultural and diverse European countries as well.

This talk by Zilvina Silenas presented an international study on the perceived role of entrepreneurs in new EU Member States like Lithuania, which is starting its EU presidency this year, and Bulgaria.
